Bacon Smashburger

OZO™ Plant-Based Burger Patty 1 Patty
Thick-cut bacon 4 Pieces
Salt ⅛ Teaspoon
Garlic powder ¼ Teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce 2 Dashes
American cheese 1 Slice
Potato bun 1 Bun
White onion, sliced
Tomato, sliced
Green leaf lettuce
Plant-based Burger Patties


Step 1
Place burger patty in a small mixing bowl and add salt, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix by hand (don’t overwork) and pack very lightly into a ball shape.
Step 2
In a cast iron skillet, lay out the pieces of bacon and cook over medium heat, flipping until both sides are crispy. Remove bacon and place burger patty in the center of the skillet.
Step 3
After 30 seconds of searing, use a spatula to smash the burger into the bacon grease until it can’t be smashed anymore. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the edges brown, and then flip and repeat.
Step 4
Place cheese slice on top of the patty for the last 1-2 minutes of cooking so it has time to melt.
Step 5
Remove burger from the skillet and turn off heat, then toast bun in the remaining bacon grease.
Step 6
To build your burger, start with the bottom bun and spread on mayonnaise. Add smashed patty, then layer bacon, tomato, onion, and lettuce. Spread top bun with ketchup and place on top.
Step 7
